Danny Mathus Plows to a 9th Place Finish at Irwindale

Irwindale, CA  (6-26-05) – Danny Mathus, the 25-year-old Mesa, Arizona, driver of the No. 42 truck qualified 7th for Saturday nights Dodge Super Trucks race at Irwindale Speedway.

“We were a little slow in practice.  We had a whole new setup on the truck and we kept on fine-tuning it.  The crew was really on top of their game dialing it in.  We picked up in practice and were happy with our qualifying run”’.

The race was going very well for Danny Mathus and Mathus Motorsports until the truck running in front him had a transmission problem.  “The transmission exploded in front of us.  I got on the brakes but the truck running behind me lifted up the rear end of the truck and we plastered into the truck in front of us.    After that the front of the truck was as flat as a pancake.  It looked like we had a snow plow on the front.”

Despite the bad luck and adversity that the team faced they rallied on to finish 9th.  “We could have had a better run.  I believe we had a top five truck here tonight.” Commented Danny Mathus.  “ I don’t know what the deal is here, but once we get past the bad luck, we will be ok.  We made some great strides here for a brand new team.  We are getting a lot closer to where we need to be.  I know we are a better team that what we have shown, but circumstances beyond our control have kept us from finishing where we should.  We look forward to getting out there and showing them what we’ve got.”

Danny Mathus is currently in 3rd place for rookie of the year.  The Mathus Motorsports team is currently searching for a sponsor for the remainder of the season.  If you are interested, please contract Francine Schill at G&G Motorsports Marketing 607-625-5876.
