Davin Scites Finishes 6th at Chicagoland in his first ARCA ReMax Race

Mooresville, NC (9-12-05) -  Davin Scites, a native of West Virginia,  is a driver that has been described as being "pure energy and excitement" when it comes to racing. For those who don’t know Davin, they got a glimpse of just that in the ARCA SK Hand Tool 200 at Chicagoland.

Davin Scites was one of the first drivers to go out for qualifying. On his first qualifying lap the car was very loose. On the second lap the 43 Wayne Lumber & Mulch-McCoy Freightliner car spun out from turn three all the way to the front stretch thru the grass. Davin kept it off the wall but only got one lap of qualifying in. “As the sun went down the speeds picked up dramatically.  It was the luck of the draw. When we went out the sun was out, but as qualifying progressed the others starting picking up speed. On the second lap I had it turned sideway and kept giving it the gas to keep it off the wall. It sure was exciting.  I wish we could have gotten our second lap though."  Commented Scites.

Davin Scites qualified 29th quickest.   “We flat spotted our tires in qualifying.  At the beginning of the race ARCA let us change our tires, but we had to start at the tail of the longest line.”

“It was exciting being on a big track, having to start from the tail you see the whole field of cars in front of you.  It was a blast starting from the back and passing cars.  I was having so much fun racing I forgot I had my water bottle in there.”

“The Crew kept preaching to me on the radio, we know we have a fast car just keep it in one piece and well get this done.   I knew we had a good car, I was real cautious at the start of the race.   I knew patience was going to get us where we needed to be.  Chevy White, my crew chief, made some good calls in the pits.    We started off real tight and adjusted on it with tire pressure.  At the end the car was better on the long runs.”

.  As soon as the race started Davin Scites started moving forward.

“Once we had moved up we had planed on coming in, but we had gained so much track position that we stayed out with the leaders to be on the same pit sequence as they were.”

“I started with a rookie strip on my back with the restarts.  You had to be careful not to spin the tires.  On the first couple of restarts I had lost some positions, but once I figured out how deep I could take it in it was great.”

“Chevy made a good call to stay out.  But it turned into quite the nail bitter.  Chevy told me I needed to start conserving fuel.  I started watching my fuel pressure, I was tight so I wasn't using very much gas because cause I couldn’t get back on the gas too fast.”

“We were getting ready to run out of gas and sure enough we got a caution.  We really got a lucky break with the caution flag.”

Davin came in for tires and gas.  Davin Scites rocketed through the field and found himself in third place.  With 3 laps to go Joey Miller got into Davin, but Davin saved it and came back to finish 6th in his first ever ARCA Remax Race.

”I knew we could have finished in second place if not won it.  But we had a great day.  I ‘m so excited for the team and how well we did.  I also need to give a special thanks to W
ayne Lumber & Mulch Company, especially my Dad Jack Scites and McCoy Freightliner "The Company that does things right" located in Kenova, West Virginia for coming on board for this race.”
