Jesus Hernandez Runs the Waste Management/National Guard Car To Finish 14th Radford, VA (6-4-05) - It was the second time Jesus Hernandez has run their backup car, the first time on the The Motor Mile. Due to some misfortune with the National Guard Car, they were not able to run the race. Hernandez was very proud and more than happy to put the National Guard on the 17 Ford Taurus. "This is a work in progress with this backup car. It's like starting over again. But we are doing everything we can to make the best of it and get the best run possible for Waste Management and the National Guard. "This is our first time back at the Motor Mile and the first time we have had the car on this track. When we unloaded we had several problems including a bad vibration that the guys looked at. They found the problem but we had lost all our practice time. We had about five laps to set the brake bias and get the car ready. We went out and qualified 17th. It was very frustrating." Commented Hernandez. "We had a plan that because of the lack of track time we would make adjustments whenever there was a caution to get the car to where it needed to be." Surprisingly there were only 2 cautions. The first caution came out at lap 30. The team made adjustments and the car got better. The next caution came around lap 113. Hernandez finished 14th. "We planed to keep the fenders on the car and we did that. We will continue to try to get the bugs out the car. We are doing everything we can to make the best of it and get this backup car running the way it needs to be." For more
